What is a Zakka swap you may ask? Well the zakka design style movement started in Japan decades ago.

According to Rashida Coleman-Hale in her book Zakka Style the term loosely translates to mean "miscellaneous goods", "many things", or sundries".

Coleman states how "it has grown to mean a style that embodies a kind of simple charm and uniqueness-something handmade that is useful yet pleasing." (6)

For this swap bring a bag of scraps at least 2” square in size or larger.  Scraps should be modern fabrics you would want to see in a project sewn for you.

Put an index card in the bag with
  • 1. your name
  • 2.  your email
  • 3. blog and/or flickr and/or pinterest if you have one.
  • 4. list of 3 Zakka items you would like to have someone make you.
  • 5. Indicate if you want extra scraps back or if person should keep them.

  •  The challenge is to use the scraps to make one of the Zakka objects listed for your partner.  Additional fabrics are allowed.  Give me your bag at the meeting and I will keep track of who picked whose bag. Items will be swapped in May.
