Quilts on exhibit

Need some eye candy and inspiration? We have quilts being exhibited nearby!

The Delta Arts Center is hosting
 "Samplers & Symmetry IV: Pieces by Area African-American Quilters" 
which runs until March 16, 2013. This biennial exhibition includes over a dozen quilts from local quilters, many of which are for sale.

The gallery is at 2611 New Walkertown Road, in Winston-Salem. (336-722-2625) 
Gallery hours are Tuesday - Friday: 10am - 5pm. Saturday: 11am - 3pm.
Gallery will be closed to the public on the 3rd Saturday of each month.

A bit farther away, the Charlotte Quilters' Guild is hosting a show:
"Through the Garden Gate"
is coming up Friday and Saturday, March 8-9, 2013
 at the Metrolina Tradeshow Expo.

So Solid - challenge

Sew Original is hosting the "So Solid Challenge" with really great prizes!

Rules:
1. Quilt must be at least 36" by 45" and be quilted and bound.
2. Quilt must use at least 12 different solid fabrics.
3. A print may be used but only as a border and/or back. (this may help you choose your solid colors)
4. Quilt may be made using any quilting technique or design of your choice.
5. If using a commercial pattern, you MUST give credit and tell which pattern/book you used along with the name of the author or designer.
6.Quilts must be turned in to Sew Original by April 12, 2013. You must attach your name and contact information to the back of the quilt.
7.Quilts will hang in the store and customers will vote for their favorite during April 16-May 15, 2013. Winning quilts will be retained to hang in the store for an additional 30 days. Other quilts will be returned to their owners.
8. Winners will be announced May 16, 2013. Pictures will be posted on Sew Original Facebook page and the Sew Original blog.
9. The following prizes will be awarded:
3rd place: $50 gift certificate
2nd place: $100 gift certificate
1st place: $200 gift certificate

To make this a bit more interesting, Sew Original is specially pricing the solid fat quarters for this challenge, they will be $2.50 each, or 12 for $26.99.

Give it a shot, create a beautiful quilt of SOLIDS!
