Kim is an amazing sewist, she is a garment maker, bag wizard and quilter extraordinaire! Kim is very prolific and routinely wows & inspires us with her creations. Her sewing journey began when she asked for a sewing machine for her 8th birthday. Her mother was a struggling single Mom who did a great job of making ends meet. She knew that this is what Kim wanted for her birthday and she found a used Singer for $35.00. Kim has been sewing ever since.
Kim is a completely self-taught sewist. She has the ability to pick up a book or pattern figure it all out and make it look easy! Kim has always enjoyed making her own clothes and started branching out into wearable art and quilting. She made her first quilt in 1987 and has been hooked ever since.
Kim's tastes in patterns and fabrics has varied greatly over the years, but her passion and talent for color has never swayed. Her ability to coordinate bright colors from multiple lines is a testament to her excellent eye. Her new inspirations are the modern and contemporary quilts that include solid colors, whites and grays. Kim sees these as more simplistic patterns and very clean looking.
Kim's own words: "This is totally thinking outside the box, but I am having a ball with it. I have always enjoyed paper piecing and more complex patterns, so this is a new direction for me. I just hope I live long enough to get through all the projects in my head and fabric in my stash."
