About Anita

A longtime resident of Manhattan, Anita lives and dreams in quilts. This wasn’t always the case: after graduating from art school in 1975, Anita moved to Manhattan, where she painted and worked in art curation before becoming a full-time professional quilter in 1990. Anita’s hallmark as a quilter is her devotion to streamlining the quilting process and eliminating fabric waste using her “Make It Simpler” method. Specifically, she enjoys using her waste-eliminating techniques to make “artful” bed quilts. Anita has appeared on HGTV multiple times and has published 3 different books. Her patterns and methods have been featured in a variety of print publications, including Quiltmaker Magazine, An Experts’ Guide to Foundation Piecing, 100 Tips from Award Winning Quilters and Donna Kooler’s Encyclopedia of Quiltmaking.

About the Lazy Stars Workshop

Prepare to be Gobsmacked with Anita’s Make It Simpler method! Anita’s Make It Simpler method has been featured all over the country and the internet--from the Road to California to the John C. Campbell Folk School and Bluprint.com. We have the opportunity to work with Anita on the Wednesday after our May meeting. In the Lazy Stars workshop, you will learn Anita’s streamlined method to make at least 13 8” star-based blocks... from a single on-point square block! The best part: you can do so without having to make any flying geese or half-square triangle units! Once you learn Anita’s method, you’ll be able to experiment and mix-and-match with star blocks, and create new projects to your heart’s content.

There is minimal preparatory work--you only need a minimum of 8 (starched) 11 inch squares along with your machine and sewing supplies to attend. So, if you like Anita’s lecture and make a snap decision to attend her workshop… as long as there’s room, you’re in! So bring your squares and a bagged lunch, and we’ll see you at South Fork!
